Speech Journal is an iPad application that allows you to take pictures and
record audio over them. It automatically strings pictures and audio bits
together to create a seamless presentation of pictures and descriptions.
In Project STING RAY, Speech Journals are utilized in as a visual documentation
tool in several areas of the program. For instance, students use them as
reflection journals for students as they complete their community lesson plans.
They take pictures along the process, then go back and narrate their experience
with their community mentor.
Students also use Speech Journals to record their internship experiences. The
students take pictures of the different aspects of their job and
responsibilities. They then record over the picture, briefly explaining what
they are doing, how they do it, etc. This can be used as a training tool to
show other students who become interns what to do. It also serves as a good
tool to show other programs what we’re doing on and around campus.
