New Guide Ensures a Diverse Workplace

The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) has released "Business Strategies that Work: A Framework for Disability Inclusion," a document that identifies promising employment policies and practices for recruiting, hiring, retaining, and advancing qualified individuals with disabilities.  The framework provides guidance to employers who want to ensure that their workplaces are truly diverse and inclusive.


Senate Bill 926 - Postsecondary Education Memorandum

On July 22, 2011, the Florida Department of Education issued a Memorandum that addresses Senate Bill 926. Effective July 1, 2011, Senate Bill 926 provides employers immunity for negligent or intentional acts or omission by an employee that is an individual with a developmental disability. This bill also allows supported employment providers immunity from liability for the actions or conduct of a person with a developmental disability served that occur within the scope of the person’s employment.
